Forest Area School District
Annual Report Card
2003-2004 School Year
As a requirement under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, every school district must make available to parents and community and an annual school report card that includes the following information:
ü Student achievement results by proficiency level
ü Percent of students tested
ü Two year trend data by subject and grade level tested
ü If the school made adequate yearly progress
ü Graduation rates for high school
ü Attendance rates for elementary schools
ü Professional qualifications of teachers
ü Number and percent of schools identified for school improvement
ü Student achievement compared to students in the same state and students in the same district.
All schools in Forest Area School District have made adequate yearly progress in achievement, attendance and graduation rates. Initially East Forest Elementary was determined by the Department of Education to have not made adequate yearly progress in attendance rates and the school was put on the warning list (first year of school improvement). Elementary schools must maintain a 95% attendance rate or have shown improvement of attendance rate from the previous school. East Forest Elementary filed an appeal to the Department of Education stating that the rates they used to determine adequate yearly progress were inaccurate. East Forest has won this appeal and has been taken off the warning list for not making adequate yearly progress in attendance.
The information for Forest Area School District is available in the following school tables. If you have any questions about this report, please contact Nancy Cherico, Assessment Coordinator, at 755-3302.

All adequate year progress goals have been achieved.
State Proficiency Targets for AYP: Reading – 45% Math – 35%
State Attendance Targets for AYP (Elementary only) – 90% or growth from one year to next
State Graduation Targets for AYP (High school only) – 80% or growth from one year to next
State Participation Rates Target for AYP – 95% of all students
Disaggregated Data: School must have 40 or more students in each category in order for that category to be disaggregated and used for additional determination of making AYP. Fewer than 40 students tested renders the data statistically unreliable.
