Elementary Music Teacher

The Forest Area School District is looking for professional substitute teachers and support staff substitutes in the following areas:

Substitute Custodial workers shall be compensated at the rate of $8.50 per hour.

Cafeteria workers, Aides, and Secretaries shall be compensated at the rate of $8.50 per hour.

Day-to-day substitute nurses shall be compensated at the established rate of $95 per day.

Day-to-day substitute teachers shall be compensated at the established rate of $80 per day for the first twenty-five full days (or its equivalent) of substitute work, regardless of the certified area assigned. On the 26th day of substitute work, the employee shall receive $85 per full day and on the 53rd day, the employee shall receive $90 per full day. Beginning on the 80th day of substitute work (which is also the day upon which the employee must begin contributions to the retirement board fund), the employee shall receive $95 per full day for the remainder of the current academic year for which he/she is working. All days working as a long-term substitute teacher within this district shall be credited as accumulated substitute days for payroll purposes.

Long Term substitute teachers - A long-term substitute is defined as a certified teacher who has taught for a period of over ten continuous days in an area where he/she is
properly certified to teach within the state of Pennsylvania or has applied
for and been granted an emergency certification, as requested by the Forest
Area School District, if outside of their certified area. Long-term substitute
teachers shall be hired by the Superintendent of Schools and informed they
are being placed in a specific long-term position. These shall be the only
positions that qualify for "long-term" substitute wages.

The temporary employee shall be paid at the established substitute rate for the first ten days of service. Beginning on the eleventh day of service, the substitute teacher shall be paid at a daily rate of $180.56. This rate is based upon 180th of $32,500 (the equivalent of a starting teacher's wage.) This rate shall be adjusted accordingly on a "per period" basis for long-term substitutes who work partial schedules.
