AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS

After school events are provided for the students and at times for the community as a whole. Conformity to the accepted school standards is expected of all in attendance. Any deviation from this will result in the removal of the individual from the event. If the individual involved is a student at Forest Area Schools, he/she will also be subject to the provisions of the Student Code of Conduct or Discipline Code.

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES

Student should be considerate of those conducting assemblies. When cheerleaders, a staff member, students, or a guest goes out on the gym floor, all students should focus their attention on the program and give the individual the courtesy required by being silent and listening to the program.

Being a part of an evening audience at plays, concerts, commencement, etc. also requires a courtesy that enables all to concentrate on and enjoy the performance.

Students should plan movement on the bleachers during drama productions, musical presentations or other similar programs so that such movement does not interfere with the other spectators enjoying the programs. This means that getting a drink, going to the restroom, or arrival or departure from the bleachers should be done during periods of applause or intermissions. Be courteous, attentive, and quiet during the performance.

BULLETIN BOARDS

Bulletin boards in the classroom may be used only with the permission of the homeroom teacher. Other bulletin boards and display cases in the school may be used only with the permission of the high school principal.

EARLY ARRIVALS

Students participating in after-school activities should not arrive at the school earlier than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled activity unless notified beforehand to arrive earlier. This is to be interpreted as 15 minutes prior to the time you are to be on the floor for basketball practice, etc.

LIBRARY

All encyclopedias, books and other library materials should be returned to the library before they are overdue so that all students will have the use of these materials. The school will request reimbursement for the costs of any books that are lost or not returned by students.

POSTERS AND SIGNS

Students must obtain permission from the school principal to place posters or signs in the halls or classrooms. The same students will be responsible for removing the sign or poster immediately after their effectiveness. Posters and signs should be put in place without causing damage to the surface on which they are placed. Thumb tacks are to be used only on bulletin boards. Only masking tape is to be used on painted walls. No signs are to be placed on the glass sections of doors.

SELLING

The Board of School Directors has a policy prohibiting the sale of any article during school hours. Students should not bring candy and other articles to school to sell. This regulation does not apply to sales by school organizations whose sales campaigns are approved by the principal.

SPORTSMANSHIP

Students should set a good example in the matter of sportsmanship, and should quickly condemn unsportsmanship-like conduct on the part of either students or adults. Visiting teams are to be honored guests of the home team and should be treated as such.

TELEPHONE

The office telephone is a business phone and should be used by pupils for EMERGENCIES ONLY. Parents should call the school in cases of emergency or to arrange a conference or meeting with teachers or principal. Early dismissal should be handled in person or written excuses presented to the attendance office before school opens in the morning, NOT by telephone. Parents may come to the school at any time and sign out their children should an emergency arise.

VALUABLES

Students are advised that items of value should be left home. The school is not responsible for articles that are lost or stolen from the individual. .
