Student Handbook 2006/2007
This handbook was compiled so that you, the student, would have a written copy of the rules and policies of our school district. Whether you are a seventh grader, a new student to our district, or have been here for a number of years, you are encouraged to consult this handbook often, so that you will be familiar with the rules and regulations, and other information important in your school community.
I believe we have very good schools in this school district and our students are a reflection of our schools. Our schools are unique and community based institutions where students can flourish in a safe and secure learning environment. Further, our schools are schools in which everyone involved (students, teachers, parents, support personnel, administrators, etc.) work together to meet common goals. Our schools provide students with a wide variety of opportunities to explore, use, and expand their talents. The five characteristics of our schools, which we remain firmly committed to and firmly believe in, are:
1. Honesty and Integrity
2. High Expectations
3. Seriousness of Purpose
4. Order and Discipline
5. Compassion and Understanding
This handbook has been prepared and revised to provide direction and guidance to the students and parents of the Forest Area School District . It should serve as a guide to the rules, regulations, and guidelines that have been established, but we also recognize that some rules and regulations may be building-based or developed after this handbook is published. It is your responsibility to obey all rules and expectations put forth by your building administrator. I would ask that particular attention be paid to changes made in the handbook this year. The building principals will discuss these changes in detail with the student body during their fall class meetings.
I hope this handbook will serve as a resource to students; they can refer to it throughout the year for information and clarification. It is our sincere hope that every student has a rewarding and profitable school year. Please remember that the handbook serves only as a guide and may not cover all possibilities. The information contained in this handbook is generalized and therefore, is not intended to cover every specific event. The administration reserves the right to make final interpretations and determinations in all instances.
Best wishes for an enjoyable and educationally rewarding school year!
