AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS
After school events are provided for the students and at times for the community as a whole. Conformity to the accepted school standards is expected of all in attendance. Any deviation from this will result in the removal of the individual from the event. If the individual involved is a student at Forest Area Schools, he/she will also be subject to the provisions of the Student Code of Conduct or Discipline Code.
ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
Student should be considerate of those conducting assemblies. When cheerleaders, a staff member, students, or a guest goes out on the gym floor, all students should focus their attention on the program and give the individual the courtesy required by being silent and listening to the program.
Being a part of an evening audience at plays, concerts, commencement, etc. also requires a courtesy that enables all to concentrate on and enjoy the performance.
Students should plan movement on the bleachers during drama productions, musical presentations or other similar programs so that such movement does not interfere with the other spectators enjoying the programs. This means that getting a drink, going to the restroom, or arrival or departure from the bleachers should be done during periods of applause or intermissions. Be courteous, attentive, and quiet during the performance.
BULLETIN BOARDS
Bulletin boards in the classroom may be used only with the permission of the homeroom teacher. Other bulletin boards and display cases in the school may be used only with the permission of the high school principal.
CLASS/CLUB RECORDS
The officers of each class and club must keep accurate records to show exact receipts, expenditures, and dues collected. All records and dues collected must be given to the school secretary for deposit on the same day they are collected. No disbursements will be made from a class or club account without advisor’s approval. All monies will be deposited in the class or club account.
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Students participating in after-school activities should not arrive at the school earlier than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled activity unless notified beforehand to arrive earlier. This is to be interpreted as 15 minutes prior to the time you are to be on the floor for athletic practice, etc. Students remaining after school must be under adult supervision at all times.
EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATES
The Pennsylvania Child Labor laws do not permit children under 14 years of age to be employed at any time. Persons between the ages of 14 and 18 (graduates under 18 need not obtain certificates) who desire to secure employment, must first secure from the school office a PROMISE OF EMPLOYMENT form. This form requires the written promise of employment from the employer, the signature of consent from the parent or guardian, and signature of a physician assuring physical fitness for the occupation.
In addition, legal proof of age in the form of a birth certificate or Baptismal Certificate must be filed with the school until the student attains the age of 18. Vacation and General Employment Certificates are issued on this basis. After the satisfactory completion and the return of the PROMISE OF EMPLOYMENT forms, the school district will issue the Employment Certificate.
LIBRARY
All encyclopedias, books and other library materials should be returned to the library before they are overdue so that all students will have the use of these materials.

Candidates for full National Honor Society membership shall have spent at least one semester in the Forest Area School District and shall be members of the junior or senior class. Students must obtain permission from the school principal to place posters or signs in the halls or classrooms. The same students will be responsible for removing the sign or poster immediately after their effectiveness. Posters and signs should be put in place without causing damage to the surface on which they are placed. Thumb tacks are to be used only on bulletin boards. Only masking tape is to be used on painted walls.

STUDENT ATHLETES, CHEERLEADERS,
ALL CLUB AND ACTIVITY MEMBERS
All student athletes, cheerleaders and club and activity members must not only follow the rules and regulations as printed in this handbook, but must also follow any guidelines and regulations that are established for their particular activity. These additional regulations and guidelines will be printed and distributed to each student at the beginning of his/her activity. The guidelines and regulations are written and approved through the efforts of the administration, advisors, and coaches.
STUDENT COUNCIL
Your Student Council provides for student activities, serves as a training experience for both leaders and followers, promotes the common good, gives a share in the management of the school, develops high ideas of personal conduct, acts as a clearing house for student activities, seeks to interest students in school affairs and helps solve problems that may arise. Members of the Council are your representatives and have direct access to the school administrator.
TELEPHONE
The office telephone is a business phone and should be used by pupils for EMERGENCIES ONLY. Parents should call the school in case of an emergency or to arrange a conference or meeting with teachers or principal. Early dismissal should be handled in person or written excuses presented to the attendance office before school opens in the morning, NOT by telephone. Parents may come to the school at any time and sign out their children should an emergency arise.
VALUABLES
Students are advised that items of value should be left home. The school is not responsible for articles that are lost or stolen from the individual or his/her locker. Lock your locker.
